A
BRIDGE TOO FAR
|
It
was a small farm in the middle of an ash waste. Not a
pathetic living soul for miles. The butt-hole of this
pitiful planet looked like a litterbox with a tiny shambling
shack of a building on it, and a landing pad with one
little shuttle on it. The only thing that would belie
anything out of the ordinary were the guardsmen franticly
moving crates from the open barn door to the dark green
shuttle and the dark cloud of dust on the orizon…
Sergeant Konrad could see the cloud of smoke and flame
reach up its red and black fingers into the sky through
the thick glass of the shuttle’s cockpit as he flew
away. The chaos army must have blown the underground facility
to hell as soon as they realized they were too late. The
poor bastards… There had been thirty guardsmen protecting
the cache of Iron Hands gene-seed he now carried on the
shuttle with him. They were dead now…. or being
tortured for information…. These thought had hardly
registered before a low crump and a whistling caught his
attention from below. The shell exploded a little to the
shuttle’s right, and suddenly the craft slewed out
of control, plummeting towards a large urban settlement
below, billowing flames. This was the last place he wanted
to land. The charred clutches of a war-torn battleground
reached up quickly as the damaged craft rocketed through
burning buildings. The wing struck something hard and
the shuttle spun like a top coming apart at the seams
as it did. Konrad’s last though was a prayer that
the gene-seed would be safe.
+++ All Imperial Forces:
ALERT. One of the Most Holy Emperor’s craft, bearing
important cargo, has been shot down by the foul heretic.
The cargo has been retrieved by local soldiers and these
forces are now setting up defensible positions in block
2937E. All available forces are to proceed directly to
relieve these loyal soldiers. Expect strong resistance.
End transmission.+++
| Imperial |
Imperial
forces must hold out at all costs. The gene-seed must
not fall into enemy hands. This holy cargo, will only
be safe after it has been transported elsewhere, but
reinforcements will facilitate this. |
| |
| Chaos |
The gene-seed is enough material to make an entirely
new company and must be captured at all costs. Though
this is reason enough to take it, it will also cripple
the Imperial forces and deal a morale blow to the
defenders. |

| Orks |
There is no way we wants to fight more of dem big
‘ummies, wid der big gunz! |
| |
| Tyranids |
The
opportunity to incorporate space marine gene-seed
into their collective is too much to overlook. |
| |
| Eldar |
Though
they would certainly prefer that nobody had the gene-seed,
they realize it is most necessary to keep it out of
evil hands. |
| |
| Necrons
|
The
energy of the gene-seed appears appetizing to them,
and looks like lunch. |
| |
| Tau |
The
Tau see an opportunity to analyze and assess the enemy
on a basic level and will attempt to capture the genetic
material for research. |
